Well after about 8 months of repairing my Seawind it finally flew again. (I probably only worked on it about a month in all that time). Jack and I took off at about 3:30PM and flew it off the water. We've been working a few kinks out of it but all in all it flies fine. It was good to get back in the air. Hopefully I can keep it in one piece this time. If all goes well I'll see you all at the Splash-in. Tom Saccio

Tom Saccio 3312 (Oleo)
After 2 1/2 days of flying, We had a mishap. Upon takeoff we heard a loud pop and didn't know what it was. So we turned around and landed. The bang we soon discovered was the right landing gear oleo coming apart. Needless to say we landed on the left main and nose gear only. We had damage to the right sponson and the keel. We took the strut off and found that the stainless shaft in the oleo had disconnected. It didn't break it just backed out of the threads. We put it back together did some fiberglass work on the sponson so that it didn't take on any water and flew it off the runway back to my house. That was an uneventfull trip. Well more work to do. Isn't it fun owning a Seawind. Don't know when I will be back in the air but Oshkosh is not a possibility. After the two wheel landing I found that I was leaking fuel from the left wing root. Don't know what that is about yet, But I suspect that it is leaking from a hose that goes under the spar to the fusalage. It's the opposite side of where the damage to the gear was. I will keep you all posted.
