    mike reibling | Ah......Busted

I thought I would sneak in and out. There is always someone with a camera. Good thing they didn't post my landing. Some of you would think I'm not worthy. Jack you would have had a recall on my training.

mike reibling | Interesting flight home

On my way home from Minnesota I thought I would try out the high altitude capability of my bird. So I got a clearance to go to 18,000. I hit cloud at 17,000 but I was pleasantly surprised how well it got to and performed at 17,000. However when I got home I had a shocking sight to see when I got out. The plane was covered in oil. The crank case vent froze and blew about 5 liters of oil out the front seal. I had about 40 hours of work cleaning up after that mess.

Last winter when I went flying, I froze my crank case vent. I asked questions about it at the time and was told about the secondary hole inside the cowl. I was going to check for this when I would do my next oil change but I ended up having to deal with it a little early. I found out I didn't have the secondary vent.
