    Tom Saccio | Splash-in 2012 - Blounts Creek, NC. - September 28 29 & 30

At the last Splash-in in Duluth I mentioned that I would host the 2012 Splash-in at my home in Blounts Creek, NC. If that is agreeable with everyone, then I am thinking that the last weekend in September would work best. Please let me know your thoughts about the place and time. All ideas are welcome. Hope you all had a great 2011 and an even better 2012. Happy New Year.....Tom Saccio

    Sounds good Tom....

It's great to see the strong support so soon.

Kris and I would love to come. Keith, please post hotel info so we can try to get into the same place.

On another note I was just doing my annual and found a race in one wheel is loose. Does anyone know of a way to repair it or have a wheel for sale?

PS. I talked to Matco they don't and won't have any stock for at least 3 months.

Russ Kotlarek | Splash in prop Balancer???

Do we have any desire to do prop balancing at the splash in this year as we mentiond last year I can bring it.

It may be too much work to pull cowlings and such but with Tom's shop there it is doable. Any input?

    Tom Saccio | Splash-in 2012

I'm starting to make final arrangements for the Splash-in. It will be the weekend of Sept 28th and 29th. That's a Saturday and a Sunday. If anyone wants to get here earlier that would be just fine with us. Or stay longer for that matter.

I've checked out two of the better hotels in town and rooms are available.

Hampton Inn, which is on 15 ST in Washington and about 7 minutes from Washington Warren Airport (OCW) is the most expensive at about $94.00 + tax is a nice clean hotel.

    Address: 2085 W 15 St Washington, NC 27889 Tel# 252 940-4556

    Web site www.washingtonnc.hamptoninn.com

    The other choice is :

    Quality Inn @ 1031 Carolina Ave Washington, NC 27889 Tel# 252 946-5500

Room with King size bed is $70.00 + tax per night.

Two double beds is $75.00 + tax per night.

Both hotels are clean and very accommodating.

My choice would be the Quality Inn because it is cheeper and just as nice as the Hampton Inn.

Please make your reservations early as they book up fast. Rooms can be canceled if needed.

Most people coming commercially will probably fly into Raleigh Durham (RDU) or you could make connections and fly into New Bern (EWN)

Or Greenville NC (PGV) and I will pick you up and take you to your hotel.

The coordinates for my home if you are coming by Seawind is:

    35 29' 45" 76 57' 7'

The local airport is Washington Warren Field (OCW) My address is:

    4373 Maules Point Rd.

    Blounts Creek NC 27814

and is approximately 10 miles at 150 degrees

    Home number 252 940-0083

    Cell 252 945-5199

If you have any questions please call.

There will be a dinner at my home on Saturday the 29th of September with entertainment.

      Tom Saccio | Splash-in 2012

We are less than a week away from the Splash-in and if you trust the weather man we are in for a great weekend. It looks great north and south of me from New York to Florida.

I have a new set of coordinates for my home if you are flying directly here.

They are: 35.4492N and 76.9284W. Please note that these are not in minutes and seconds but in decimal. This point should be 9.4 nautical miles from Washington Warren airport (OCW) at a direction of 150 degrees.

If you have any trouble please contact me at the following numbers

      Home 252 940-0083

      Cell. 252 945-5199

If you land at the airport we will pick you up and take you either to my home or to your hotel. Fly safe

        Yankeepapa | [Q] Ride?

        Greetings-

Per the website, I am apparently the newest member of this group, so first a couple of bits of introduction. First, I am a Private Pilot. Second, I am a Seawind builder/owner wanna-be. That being said, I could not help but notice the splash-in scheduled for this weekend in NC.

Now, I do not want to come across as pushy, but time is of the essence -- the weekend is coming up quickly. While I have seen Seawinds up close in years gone by, I have never sat (much less gotten a ride) in one. So, without connecting the dots, I'm sure all of you know where I'm headed...

IF, I were able to get to NC this weekend (doubtful), and IF I showed up with $ ready to cost share, what would be the chances of getting to actually experience the Seawind thrill? Truth be told, it might do me good to somehow decide I could live without a Seawind, as that would keep my life more manageable!

So, enough of that. Even if this weekend did not work out, and as a backup plan, I don't suppose there are any Seawind owners close to North Alabama?

        TIA

        -David

P.S. My full name is David C Matthews. (The "C" comes in handy, as there are many of us around and it helps distinguish.)

Yet another idea is that if someone will be flying over North Alabama, perhaps I could persuade you to stop in for fuel? I would be willing to cost share -- buy you some avgas in exchange for a quick ride.
