Anyone have canopy cover suggestions? Preferred cloths (Mylar to reflect?), fastening schemes, etc.? Detailed pictures, if you have any, would be great.

    Are you still looking?

I've had several and the first ones weren't very good. The best soulution I found was Blue /sailboat canvas, snapped to the canopy, so that when you raise the canopy it goes up also, which prevents the sun burning holes in the rear seat upholstery ( replaced several times). It cost around $500.

Excellent suggestion. Thank you. Question: any concerns regarding fastening snaps to fiberglass (ie, compromise structural integrity)?

ANYONE GOING TO SUN n'FUN (April 21-26)? Bruce's Custom Covers said they could take measurements for a template off a Seawind. ANY VOLUNTEERS?

As we speak two Canopy covers are being made for Fred Lohr and Chad Fey by a woman in Norht Carolina. The cover is patterned after one that was made for me. Ed Lynch and John Parks also have the same cover. The womans name is Gayle and her business is called Watson in Homes. Her number is 252 946-3301. If I can be of service to any of you, I would be glad to help. Just call or E-mail me.

By the way this cover goes around the nose of the plane a cross the canopy and down the sides. It is easy to install by one person. The price she is charging now is $600.00. I think the first couple that were made were about $700.00 but the price has come down.

    Thanks Tom....

Do you have any pictures..? Does the cover hook in on the inside with snaps or around the bellie with straps..?

I currently have a cover that snaps on inside the canopy.

I am looking for a cover that can raise with the canopy and that has netting that drops below the canopy canvas so when the canopy is open the skeeters don't get me while sleeping.

    I'll call her.....

The cover that I have attaches to the nose and clips on to the back of the wings and the wheel wells. It also has two straps the go under the belly. I'm sure this woman could make what ever you want though. She is comming to my house to fit the covers for Chad and Fred today. I'll as her if she can do what you want. I'll also take pictures and post them.

Bruce's custom covers is located near my home. Soon as we get through painting the bottom and turn the carcass right side up, I can have them come over and figure out how to fit the canopy if anyone is interested--should be done with the paint this week.

    keithw | Seawind Cover

Hi Seawinders The cover you see on my plane N80CC was a cover supplied by S.N.A. when I had just finished the plane back in 2001. I didnt like it as it did not completely cover the canopy. So I sent it back and had 12" added all around.. When I would be out and tied down and a big rain/blow would come I would get water on the inside. The 12" did the trick. I had eyeltts added so I could tie it down with bunge cords Also straps that clip up on the inside before the canopy is closed. Does quite well. Keith Walljasper N80CC

Anyone know of a manufacture who's already made (so has a template) for SUN-SHIELD that fits INSIDE the canopy? Kind of like that foil-looking stuff...

    Rusty | Canopy Covers

    We have completed our canopy.

Bruce's Covers is local. They have made several for me over the last 25 yrs.

They can come by my place anytime and use my Seawind for a model if anyone out there wants to deal with them remotely.

    I'm at:

    898 Pepper Tree Ct.

Bruce's Custom Covers is alive and well. Moved from the high rent district, Sunnyvale, Ca, to Morgan Hill, a bit South of Silicon Valley. They could come up and use my Seawind for a pattern, assuming all our planes came off the same molds. Ph: 800 777 6405 8:00a>5:00p
