Ever wonder what happens to a vacuum pump when it sucks in water…?
Well it shears the coupling. I guess the pump can’t compress water…go figure….
Anyway to those building, do not place your vacuum line under the floor boards unless it is a solid line without any couplings. Yep, you guessed it……water under the floor, vacuum sucking; just doesn’t make for a good day.

And don't forget to replace that vacuum inlet filter. Rotten bits of it sheared the coupling on my Cherokee that never went near water.
Having lost both vacuum pump and electric turn&bank (fortunately not in the same flight,) I'm considering installing the vacuum venturi I picked up at the flymart for $20 somewhere under a popup hatch. Any thoughts one where to put such a thing?
