Default N30EL finally flies!
After 8+years and 7000+ hours, Seawind N30EL took off from Spruce Creek Fly-In, and made a successful and uneventful first flight. No problems, other than the usual loose nut behind the stick! So I live to fly another day...Ed Lynch

Yes, there is hope for the rest of us ....
Congrats Ed & Mary Lou!! What a great accomplishment. I can't wait to see it live. Do you have any pictures you could share with us. I heard from Russ it was a most amazing experience.
Let's have a Splash-In soon so we can all get a close look at your new baby. News travels fast in the aviation world, I heard about your first flight from my fellow EAA Chapter members in NH.
Happy Flying,

Ed Lynch | Default N30EL weight
My empty weight, as I decided to record it, includes chocks, tiedowns (the claw),mooring pins, paddle and boat hook; and came in at 2600#. No upholstery yet, just two front seats.

A good friend and neighbor has taken some nice photos of my Seawind's first and second flights, and posted them on his website-http://geoffdavis.smugmug.com/gallery/8037446_ftJcZ/1/523212768_LVhUu if it asks for a password it is N30EL If I had e-mail addresses for those who would like to see the pix I could send them from the site. Nice picts ED.. What happened to the other main...?
John, do you have picts of all the members planes...?
05-03-2009, 01:28 PM
Ed Lynch | Default Missing main gear.
Mike, the gear goes up and down in random sequence. It does its own thing in whatever order it pleases. From initial observations, the nose wheel seems to win the race up or down most of the time, followed one at a time by the mains. Most of this would normally go unnoticed, but my eagle eye neighbor caught it on film. Cycle time is about 6 seconds. I do have the recommended restrictor orfices in the main gear down lines. Ed
