I had a fuel leak and about a gallon went into the bilge. When I drained it out it was green. For the life of me I can't figure out who it was green in color. I've asked a lot of people but know one seems to have an answer. The only other color in the billed was some residue from a hydraulic leak and that's red. Does any one have any ideas what could have caused the green color?

how about this theory.... easily tested. 95 %blue avgas plus 5 % red hydraulic fluid, mix together, yields green.

I don't know but I always thought blue and red made purple. Seems like it would have had to be some source of yellow to mix with blue and make green.
Unless the base color of the hydraulic fluid is enough yellow to over power the added red dye. Some submersible electric pumps have a hydrocarbon fluid in them. Could the avgas have caused a leak in a seal in the bilge pump and caused a leak of yellow tinged fluid? Or dissolved some labeling on the bilge pump?

Tom, How scared were you when you discovered fuel in your bilge?? Ed

Tom,
What was the nature of the fuel leak?

Tom Saccio | Fuel Leak
The leak was in the Aluminum Tube that goes from the Andair mixing valve to the Boast pump. From there it goes to the engine. The lea occurred where the line passes through the floor boards.
