    lenb | 1/4 Scale Seawind
Hello, Looking for help in my endeavor to scratch build the Seawind 1/4 scale in size. Need dimensions spoke to John at Planemakers as far he knows there are no real plans to speak of, the kit has drawings but only on certain areas, not the whole airplane. Just wondering if anybody ever got a hold of a complete set of drawings at some time. What I need at the very least would be profiles of the plane with dimension, any size will do . Any help in this quest would be greatly appreciated.

The original kit came with a number of drawings of the entire aircraft and I believe them to be to scale. Technically we need written permission from the company to release any of that information and given past legal issues for SNA I'm guessing this would be considered for good reason. If it is for a model possibly Dick Silva would authorize or even provide that information. You can contact him at (610) 384-7000 • E-mail: seawind@seawind.net

As a second option you could join us at Sun-N-Fun, Oshkosh Airventure, or the next Seawind splash in and photograph to your hearts content. I'm assuming being a 1/4 scale model it would be visioned as a compliment rather than an issue but indeed worth asking.

As a side note I understand a number of model replicas exist from known companies such as Great Planes. Obviously a liking to the Seawind but less likley exact replicas. That said if you are connected with a number of these flyers possibly having them join us at the next Seawind Splash in might be considered "good fun" by the rest of the group. I know I would enjoy seeing a fleet of seawind models flying.

If you like the way your 1/6 scale model flies, you may want to consider just scaling up the dimensions taken from your model. Most "scale" models that fly well are not exact scale, but adjusted to accommodate different wing loading and Reynolds number. If you like what you see, it's a cheap and easy solution. Use pictures to capture details of full scale airplanes. Ed

    Hi Russ,

Thank you for the info will contact Dick Silva. I hope Dick will see it as a compliment for it is a beautiful aircraft. I own and fly the Great Planes Seawind but it came pre built, so no plans came with it and no important info. But it can be used as a guide line when it comes to wing loading and Reynolds number.

    Best Regards, Len

    Hi Ed,

Thank you for your response and yes your right it would be a easy task if the Great Planes Seawind came with drawings but it didn't . Could draw it up to the scale I want using the model I have as a guide except I cant draw worth a dam. You are also right in regards to wing loading and Reynolds numbers. I am aware that you cant scale down a full size aircraft exactly to the scale you want. So it would be nice to have drawings of the full size compare it to my model then start the scaling down process and adjust it accordingly. If i cant access plans then i will be forced to draw it up to the scale I want as you suggested ,just need to find an artist or a draftsman who is an artist.

    Best Regards Len
